![]() The rifling still shows sharp lands and grooves throughout the barrel and there is no visible pitting, erosion, or imperfections. The bores in both the barrel and cylinder are in excellent condition. The original blue finish on this gun shows some minor handling marks and spots of finish wear, but still has a very attractive look overall. The pinned barrel and recessed chambers is a very sought-after feature on Smith & Wesson revolvers that Taurus copied on their gun during this period. It features a 6" inch pinned barrel, a 6-shot cylinder with recessed chambers, adjustable target-style sights, and checkered Walnut "Target" grips. This Model 66 came from the factory with a high gloss blue finish on all of the steel parts except for the trigger and hammer, which were finished in a golden yellow "straw" finish. This particular Taurus Model 66 was made in the early 1980's and shows a much higher degree of fit and finish than later production guns. Taurus has kept the Model 66 in almost constant production ever since, with many little changes and variations being introduced along the way. The Model 66 quickly earned a reputation for being an economical but reliable and accurate revolver. Taurus borrowed design elements from Colt, Smith & Wesson, and several Spanish made guns in creating the Model 66.
